A better man (random)

It's 6:00 in the morning, he has a coffee in his hand

He sits down at the table and wonders why he is this man

He's a man who doesn't know how to treat people right

Yet he's successful and smart but acts like a demon in the night

He puts fear in the people who he loves the most

He never allows anyone to become too close

He gets another coffee and sits back down

He sometimes wishes he didn't live in a small town

The people who know him really well

Will never ever truthfully tell

What a controlling, temperamental man he can be

They let the people see whatever they see

He's fully aware of the damage he's done

To the people he loves most as he looks up to the sun

He gets up from his chair and hangs his head low

The damage has been done but he hopes it doesn't show

He wants to be better but part of him can't 

He lives his life in a downward slant

He thinks if he ignores the way that he acts

His act of a better man will stay intact
